The weekend's Washington, D.C. area college football action is highlighted by a first ever clash between the Georgetown Hoyas and Howard Bison. The scheduled Sunday afternoon clash will be the first ever meeting between these sole D.C. based Division I football squads and the first ever D-1 D.C. football meeting of any kind since 1950.
Both the Bison and Hoyas have struggled through losing seasons in recent years, Georgetown's record more the worse for wear. The first of a four year series for what's being called the D.C. Cup serves as the season opener for both schools. Kickoff time is set for 1 p.m. at Howard's Greene Stadium. The game will be webcast via Howard-Bison.com with tape delayed TV Tuesday at 11:30 p.m. on MASN.
In other area action, the Navy Midshipmen are at Ball State (Friday 7 p.m., ESPN, WFED/1050), Virginia Tech hosts Furman (Saturday @ 1:30 p.m., ACCSelect, WTEM/980), Virginia hosts Richmond (3:45 p.m., ESPNU, WTNT/570) and the Maryland Terrapins will be at Middle Tennessee State (7 p.m., CSN, WJFK/106.7).
