After its early start to the preseason, the Washington Redskins franchise stands ready as one of two teams to open the 2008 National Football League season. The Redskins hope to regain their early preseason form this early Thursday evening at the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants.
Washington is reeling off two straight embarrassing losses and inept performances by the offensive starting lineup to close out exhibition play. What remains unclear is what portions of new head coach Jim Zorn's West Coast offense have been kept in hiding until this point.
On the defensive side, the top question for the 'Skins remains the status of defensive end Jason Taylor. The all-pro sack specialist remains officially "questionable' coming into the game but one imagines that he'll try to tough it out to extend his consecutive games streak. The late word is that Taylor has been penciled into the starting lineup.
The telecast time is 7 p.m. on NBC (WRC/4) television and WTEM/980 radio.
