Safe off a return to winning ways, the Washington Redskins return home to rematch their arguably toughest opponent in the New York Giants.
Coming off a Super Bowl win, the Giants are tied with the league best record at 10-1 including a decisive win over Washington in the 2008 league opener. Again this week, the Redskins/Giants matchup stands as the marquee game with the Redskins needing a win to keep pace in the wild card chase.
The Redskins will play off what should be an emotional pre-game ceremony honoring the late Sean Taylor's entrance into the team's Ring of Fame. Taylor was the mainstay of a defensive unit that remains the strength of the Redskins to this day.
Aside from coming off the emotionalism of the pregame ceremony, the defense will also have to cope with the potential loss of players including London Fletcher, Andre Carter & Cornelius Griffin to injury. The unit will have to fight with whatever it has left to overcome the Giants high-powered offense.
Game time is 1 p.m. on WTTG/FOX/5 & WTEM/980.
