West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection – Air Quality Division has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Advisory due to elevated particulate matter from Canadian wildfire smoke across West Virginia until 10 PM EDT this evening.
Weather conditions may cause fluctuations in air quality throughout the day, and some areas may experience periods where the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaches the 101-150 range (orange), which is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups.

The Maryland Department of the Environment has issued a Code ORANGE Air Quality Alert Thursday for
Northern Baltimore.
A Code Orange Air Quality Alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include children, people suffering from asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases and the elderly. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.
