A Cold Weather Advisory is now in effect to 10 am Monday, December 15, 2025 including the following jurisdictions.

MARYLAND: western Allegany.
VIRGINIA: eastern Highland, northern/central Blue Ridge.
WEST VIRGINIA: western Mineral, eastern Pendleton.

…COLD WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST THIS MORNING…

WHAT…Very cold wind chills between 10 and 20 below zero.

WHERE…In Maryland, Extreme Western Allegany County. In Virginia, Central Virginia Blue Ridge and Northern Virginia Blue Ridge, and Eastern Highland County. In West Virginia, Eastern Pendleton and Western Mineral Counties.

WHEN…Until 10 AM EST this morning.

IMPACTS…The cold wind chills approaching 20 below zero could cause hypothermia and frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

WHERE…Augusta and Rockingham Counties.

WHEN…Until 10 AM EST this morning.

IMPACTS…The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
