A Fire Danger risk is in effect Wednesday, January 29, 2025 including the following jurisdictions.

VIRGINIA: Augusta, Rockingham, Page, Nelson, Albemarle, Greene, Madison, Rappahannock, Orange, Culpeper, Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George, Fauquier, northern/central Blue Ridge.

Excerpted from the National Weather Service:

…INCREASED FIRE DANGER TODAY ACROSS PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND NORTH CENTRAL VIRGINIA AND THE CENTRAL SHENANDOAH VALLEY…

Relative humidities will drop to around 20 to 35 percent this afternoon. Sustained west to northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts to 30 to 45 mph are expected. Locally higher winds are possible over and near higher terrain. Due to dry conditions from the lack of recent precipitation, there is an increased risk for the spread of wildfires. Fuel moistures of 10 to 15 percent can be expected.

Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities whether you may burn outdoors. If you do burn outside, use extreme caution. For Virginia, burning information can be found at dof.virginia.gov.
