A Flash Flood Warning is in effect to 11:30 pm Monday, May 5, 2025 including the following jurisdictions.

VIRGINIA: northwestern Loudoun.
WEST VIRGINIA: southeastern Jefferson.

Flash Flood Warning for…
Northwestern Loudoun County in northern Virginia…
Southeastern Jefferson County in the panhandle of West Virginia…

Until 1130 PM EDT.

At 833 PM EDT, local fire department reported flash flooding due to heavy thunderstorms across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE…Fire department reported.

IMPACT…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
