A Flash Flood Warning is in effect to 7:30 pm Thursday, July 31, 2025 including the following jurisdictions.

MARYLAND: northern Howard, north central Montgomery, southeastern Carroll, southeastern Frederick, southwestern Baltimore, Baltimore City.

…FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 730 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR NORTHERN HOWARD AND NORTH CENTRAL MONTGOMERY COUNTIES IN CENTRAL MARYLAND, SOUTHEASTERN CARROLL AND SOUTHEASTERN FREDERICK COUNTIES IN NORTH CENTRAL MARYLAND, SOUTHWESTERN BALTIMORE COUNTY IN NORTHERN MARYLAND AND BALTIMORE CITY IN NORTHERN MARYLAND…

At 435 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2 to 4 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD…Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
