A Flood Warning is in effect to 7:15 am Friday, May 9, 2025 including the following jurisdictions.

VIRGINIA: Fairfax.

…FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 715 AM EDT THIS MORNING…

WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

WHERE…A portion of northern Virginia, including the following county, Fairfax.

WHEN…Until 715 AM EDT.

IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 414 AM EDT, gauge reports indicated heavy rain. Flooding is already occurring along Accotink Creek. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Annandale… Ravensworth…
Fairfax… Mantua…
– This includes the following Flood Prone Roads…
Woodburn Road at Accotink Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
