A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect to 8:30 pm Tuesday, July 1, 2025 including the following jurisdictions.

MARYLAND: St. Mary’s, southern Calvert, southeastern Charles.

Until 830 PM EDT.

At 723 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Colonial Beach, moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

Lexington Park, Chesapeake Ranch Estates, Leonardtown, Prince Frederick, Piney Point, Tall Timbers, Saint Inigoes Creek, Saint Marys City, Greenwell State Park, Hallowing Point, Saint Leonard Creek, Town Creek, Wicomico River, Saint Marys River, White Point Beach, Cuckold Creek, Saint George Island, Sheridan Point, Calvert Cliffs, and Saint Clements Bay.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature`s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
