A Coastal Flood Warning is now in effect to 7 pm Friday, May 16, 2025 including the following jurisdictions.
DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.

…COASTAL FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EDT THIS EVENING…
WHAT…Two to three feet of inundation above ground level in low lying areas due to tidal flooding.
WHERE…Shoreline in the District of Columbia, especially in the vicinity of Georgetown.
WHEN…Until 7 PM EDT this evening, especially around the time of high tide.
IMPACTS…The Washington Harbour boardwalk will be covered. Low lying areas near Fletcher’s Boathouse will be flooded. More than a third of Roosevelt Island will be inundated. Rock Creek will experience backwater flooding.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Tides one and a half to two feet above normal. The next high tide at Washington Channel is at 11:48 PM.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.
