A Flood Warning is now in effect Monday, June 16 to 3 am Tuesday, June 17, 2025 including the following jurisdictions.

VIRGINIA: Highland.

…FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM EDT TUESDAY…

WHAT…Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

WHERE…A portion of western Virginia, including the following county, Highland.

WHEN…Until 300 AM EDT.

IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 1132 PM EDT, gauge reports indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.
– Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected.Local law enforcement continues to report high water throughout the county.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
