The longtime leading George Washington Colonials college basketball discussion forum GWHoops.com shut down this week after more than twenty years of operation. GWHoops had averaged up to 10,000 hits per day at its peak and was the leading unofficial outlet for information & discussion about GW basketball.
GWHoops.com has been plagued in recent years though by online trolling, fans posting under multiple screen names and disputes regarding former George Washington men’s basketball head coach Mike Lonergan and former athletic director Patrick Nero. A good-bye messagewas posted at the former GWHoops.
Just a few days before the original GWHoops folded, a new GW Hoops discussion forum emerged at gwhoops.boardhost.com. The new forum was originally intended to be an alternative to GWHoops.com but is now poised to serve as its de facto successor.
